Tips for Australia: Earplugs, my best friends

Well, the thing is that Australia is a country full of noises. Most of them, I must say, are wonderful noises. Hundreds of extremely diverse birds sing every morning, owls do it when it's dark, possums too, etc. So, it's great to hear them for the first time, maybe a second time is still funny, but when you're exhausted after a three days tour to the outback, where you slept in swags, with spinifex mices jumping all over you all night long, you can believe me when I say that you need to sleep with no such (beautiful) interruptions.

Besides that, if you paln to sleep in a Youth Hostel (or even in an improvised camp with the tour you booked to see the Uluru, for instance), you may encounter people who snore like if their throats where a shortcut to hell, or others whose blood was substituted by 100% alcohol after a neverending party.
And, even more, if you come from a country where people doesn't use to wake up at 5:30 or 6:00, you'll find yourself trying to sleep when the city is already awaken and noisy.

That's why, the first tip I wanted to give you was to get yourself a good couple of earplugs. After all, if you don't sleep well, you won't enjoy your travel, that's for sure.

  1. I can't agree more, but listen, these are not the best. The best ones are the yellow ones ;-)
